Therefore threads are the proof of saffron's purity. Usually, for those who have never used them, two doubts rise: 1) how much threads can I use? We suggest you to use 8 threads per person, but after a little practice you'll proceed by sight... 2) how can I use them in cooking?To have a perfect amalgam, it is better to powder saffron. It needs a simple and short toasting. There are various methods to do this. Here we illustrate you the most common and traditional ways: - spoon: arrange on a spoon the dose of threads you need, then put the spoon above the low flame of the gas cooker for about 25 seconds; thus toasted, wrap them in a piece of cooking paper and crush them hard by using the edge of the same spoon; - iron: wrap the dose of threads you need in a piece of cooking paper and toast them by passing a warm iron above them about 4 or 5 times, and finally crush them, for example by using the edge of a knife.

Phase 1 Arrange the threads on a spoon (8 threads per person are enough)... Phase 2 ... put the spoon on the low flame of the gas cooker for about 20 seconds... Phase 3 ... wrap the threads in a piece of cooking paper... Phase 4 ... crush them strongly by using the edge of the spoon Ready! Et voilà ... Gently open the cooking paper... saffron is ready to use!
